"I know, I'm so happy!" I smiled and held my hand out to flash the ring one more time, I couldn't help but look at it as well. It was so wonderful to think that I was so in love. I really couldn't stop smiling.
Lydia, ever the romantic, started to pepper me with questions. What was his name? How did we meet? When would I bring him to Austrona, our beautiful hometown?
I laughed. "Slow down, Lydia. His name is Oliver Matthews. I'll tell you how we met later. I'll bring him to Austrona soon."
"Oh fabulous!!! You must come to my party tonight and tell all!" Lydia was begging with her eyes and positively beaming, I just couldn't say no.
*********
The minute I arrived at the party I was swarmed by well wishers and young girls awaiting my story. I loved telling this story.
"I was at a charitable bazaar. There was dancing of course, I danced with several different gentlemen, but none seemed to sweep me off my feet. After my third or fourth dance I was quite thirsty, as I made my way to the punch table I bumped into him and very nearly fell, but luckily he caught my waist. The minute I looked into his eyes I knew that this man was the man for me and I haven't doubted since."
I finished the story with a smile on my face and some of the girls had tears in their eyes. I laughed at them and asked, "Why on earth are you crying?"
"It's so beautiful Lucy." They replied as they dabbed their eyes.
"Oh come now, I want to hear about you girls. What have I missed?"
All of the girls broke into grins and Lydia spoke for them."Well, there's a new boy in town, he's the cousin of Tristan Redd. We all adore him, he's so dashing!"
"Well he sounds wonderful, will he be here tonight?"
"YES!" Every girl shrieked with excitement and started giggling. I smiled at them, all of this giggling reminded me of our school days.
"What's his name?" I asked.
A deep velvet voice from behind sent my heart into a frantic race said, "Gabriel Tate."
I turned and looked into his handsome chiseled face, his emerald green eyes and for the first time, I doubted......
